Welcome to 1861-1865.org, the site formerly known as Civil War Literature. This new incarnation will concern itself with diverse representations of the war. Discussions of Civil War literature will still occur here, but so will reflections on a much wider range of topics. I hope both old and new readers will find the site to their liking.

My name is Craig Warren.  I am an assistant professor of English at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. My book, Scars to Prove It: The Civil War Soldier and American Fiction, was published in July 2009 by The Kent State University Press.

I am also the editor of The Ambrose Bierce Project, a humanities computing project hosted by Penn State University.
